2010
The Delhi Auto Expo hosted the debut of India's first single-make circuit racing series in 2010. It was India's first-ever racing series powered by diesel.
2011
The first Indian to win the Volkswagen Polo Cup went on to compete in the Scirocco R-Cup in Germany.
2012
This year saw a very literal shift of heart. With a DSG gearbox, the Volkswagen Polo R Cup switched to a TSI engine. The sole Formula One track in India was visited by the Volkswagen Polo R Cup.

2013

The 2013 Polo R Cup final at the Buddh International Circuit attracted more than 20,000 fans for the first time in a domestic motorsport event.

2014
​
The 2013 Polo R Cup champion competed in the Volkswagen Castrol Golf Cup in Poland, and the pro category winner competed in the Volkswagen Scirocco Cup in Germany.
The Vento Dealers’ Cup was introduced as a support race for the Volkswagen Polo R Cup.

2020

The all-new race Polo launched for its 11th edition of the one-make series.

While motorsport was on pause during the country-wide lockdown, The polo cup India decided to foray into the world of sim racing. Enter the Virtual Racing Championship, which was essentially a virtual version of the Polo Cup. The winner of the Virtual Racing Championship now has to transition to real-world racing with a spot guaranteed on the 2021 Polo Cup grid and fully sponsored drive.
